Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 23, 2026
SlipCase is a local-first document wallet for iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains how SlipCase handles documents, scans, OCR text, subscriptions, and app settings.
Summary: SlipCase does not operate a developer server, does not use analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not upload your documents to us. Your documents stay on your device and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud database.
1. Information SlipCase Handles
- Documents and page images: Scanned pages, imported images, imported PDFs, document titles, folders, categories, tags, archive status, favorite status, and lock status are stored on your device using SwiftData.
- OCR text: SlipCase can recognize text from scanned pages and imported files to support local full-text search. OCR processing runs on device with Apple Vision, and recognized text is stored with your document data.
- Camera and photo library access: SlipCase requests camera access for scanning and photo library access for importing images only when you use those features.
- Files you import: PDF and image files you choose are processed in the app to create document pages. They are not sent to a developer server.
- Biometric authentication: Face ID or Touch ID may be used to unlock the app or locked documents. Biometric data is managed by iOS and the Secure Enclave. SlipCase cannot access or store your biometric data.
- Subscription status: SlipCase uses Apple's StoreKit framework to load products, complete purchases, restore purchases, and read local entitlement status. SlipCase does not collect your payment information or upload purchase records to a developer server.
- App preferences: Theme, scan options, category configuration, watermark configuration, default export preferences, and similar settings are stored locally in UserDefaults.
2. iCloud Sync
SlipCase uses Apple CloudKit private database sync for documents, pages, folders, and tags when iCloud is available for your Apple ID. This means:
- Your synced data is stored in your personal iCloud account, under Apple's privacy and security controls.
- Only devices signed in to your Apple ID can access that private database.
- The developer cannot read, access, or decrypt your private iCloud document data.
- If CloudKit is unavailable, SlipCase falls back to local storage and shows the storage mode in Settings.
- Some app preferences, such as theme and export settings, remain local to the device.
3. Data Sharing
SlipCase does not sell personal information and does not share your documents with third parties. The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Apple may process information needed to provide App Store purchases, iCloud, and system services. Those services are governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy.
4. Data Security
- Document data is protected by iOS system data protection on the device.
- You can lock individual documents and the app with Face ID or Touch ID.
- Exported PDF files can be protected with a password when you choose that option.
- Watermarks can be added to exported files to label copy purpose, but they are not a guarantee against misuse.
5. Data Deletion
You can delete individual documents in the app or clear all documents from Settings. Deletions also apply to synced iCloud private database records when iCloud sync is active. Uninstalling the app removes local app data from the device.
6. Your Choices
You can manage camera, photo library, Face ID, and iCloud permissions in iOS Settings. Turning off a permission may disable related features, but it does not give the developer access to your saved documents.
7. Children
SlipCase is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as SlipCase changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a new update date. If the app's data handling changes materially, we will also update App Store information where required.
